Update with Passion Project
Today my team and I have finished our presentation for Thursday. We have to show everyone what we had done in passion project and to see if we had succeed. Which did happen. Teaching the yr 4's was super fun and I wouldn't mind doing it again. Now all we have to do is get ready for our presentation and make sure it goes well.
Here is some of the photos that we took on the day.
Thanks for coming to my blog bye.

Passion Project
Today in Passion Project we have to get everything done before this Friday, cause if we don’t that's when everything will go wrong. So what I’ve done is I’ve commented on my groups blog post and done the list for our game. We have done most of the stuff that we do need but there is some left. Thanks to the teachers they have done a schedule for us so on the day we don’t get confused on what we are doing. It is very hard because there is only 2 of us in the group at the moment. I don’t have much to say cause we haven’t done much but next time i’ll have a lot done. Blog you later!!

Passion Project
Kia Ora, this period I have kete. For kete we are doing passion project. If you don't know what passion project is well all the yr 7, 8, 9 & 10's have to choose between 9 subjects I chose community sport. My team & I are doing netball for community sport. If you want to know what we are doing go down to my other post below (After you have read this post).
With the group we had to change so Chloe & Mikayla are in a different group that are doing the same thing. Aroha, Tahnesha, Aliyah & I are still doing the same thing. We will only have Hornby Primary doing it with us instead of the other primary schools but we will still have training and the tournament.
Today we have done the letter to the Principle of Hornby Primary, we've sorted what we need for the day and we just need to hear back from the Principle, we have also told everyone in Community sport what we had done.
Here is a photo:
Okay bye keep you updated.

Passion Project
Talofa Lava, Kia Ora & Malo E lei lei, all the yr 7, 8, 9 & 10 students have this thing called “Passion Project”. We get to choose between 9 subjects. I choose Community Sport & Recreation. In community Sport we had to choose our own groups so I’m with Chloe, Mikayla, Aliyah, Aroha & Tahnesha.
Then we chose what we were going to do to help the community. Well Aliyah, Tahnesha, Aroha & I are going to train yr 5 & 6 Netball & Chloe & Mikayla are doing Touch. So we are choosing some students from primary schools (in the Hornby Cluster) & have them choose what sport they want to do. Then we will split them to 2 groups then teach them the basics then we will have a tournament.
Then when a school wins they will get a medal & a trophy with chocolate in it. Then when it is done we will have a lolly scramble.

Yurtle the turtle
Yurtle the turtle!!
You might not know but 7 Mt has a new pet. Her name is Yurtle the turtle. She arrived in our class last weekend. We had to do alot of work to get her. So I’m doing a blog post about how we got her.
- We had to plan what to write in the letter so it would give us ideas
- Then we had to write the letter ( the letter had to be persuasive )
- After we had wrote the letter we had to email it to Mr Mitchell
- Then we had to wait
The hardest part about the process was to wait because I couldn’t wait meeting Yurtle. Now she is in our class we have to take good care of her because we promised we will. If you want to see the letter and see what it said here is the letter.
That's just some of it but here you go. See you next time.

Water Rocket Tests
Water Rocket Tests
WALT: learn how to make a really good water rocket.
Answer these questions about your experiment:
- What is the best number of fins?
- What happens to the water rocket if you do not have fins?
- What is the best nose shape?
- What happens if you have a flat nose shape?
- Does ballast at the nose make any difference?
- What is the right amount of water?
- Explain what happens if you have too much water?
- What is pushing the rocket to make it go faster?
- Name the 4 forces that effect the water rockets flight?
- What keeps the rocket moving once the water has all come out?
Answer's:
- 3-4 fins
- It would not work
- A cone shape
- It would go up for a little while and then go straight down
- Yes it does cause it would make it go down then up
- 3/4 cause if you add too much or add too less it will stay where it is
- If you add too much water it will not shoot off
- The air that is pushed in the bottle
- Gravity, Thrust, Lift & Drag
- The Wind

Flight built
Flight - Build a plane
Brainstorm: What are the forces acting on an aircraft?
- Drag
- Lift
- Gravity / weaight
- Thrust
How can we overcome some of these forces?
Force | Their effect on a plane | How to overcome them? |
Gravity / Weight | Pull it down | By making things lighter |
Drag | Slow it down | Stream line |
Lift | Make it go up | If its lighter it goes higher |
Thrust | Make it go forward | Go backwards |
Building a light aircraft
Aim: To build an aircraft made of material that is best suited for flight using the 4 forces.
Hypotheis: I think that by..
This video shows our plane flying.

- What does the biosphere contain? A aspects of life
The biosphere also known as the ecosphere, is the worldwide sum of all ecosystems. It can also be termed the zone of life on Earth, a closed system, and largely self-regulating.
A hydrosphere is the total amount of water on a planet. The hydrosphere includes water that is on the surface of the planet, underground, and in the air. A planet's hydrosphere can be liquid, vapour, or ice. On Earth, liquid water exists on the surface in the form of oceans, lakes and rivers
A lithosphere is the rigid, outermost shell of a terrestrial-type planet, or natural satellite, that is defined by its rigid mechanical properties.
An atmosphere is a layer or a set of layers of gases surrounding a planet or other material body, that is held in place by the gravity of that body

Google Drawings
Google drawings help you by being creative or helping you with your school work. I've used them for both now these ones under this paragraph or sentences is related to science.
The first one is a sign that I made for science and the second one is for jobs, the weather shapes are for weather people, weather is like science. You might be wondering how weather is related to science so click on me to know!!!! Here is the google drawing.

Waihanga Tuhituhi Glasses
Creative Writing
Ki ora my name is Lily and my owners name is Sita and my life is a very important job. You see my owner Sita doesn’t see very well so she has to use me to help her walk safely and still look fabulous. Sometimes she puts too much perfume on her neck and she never washes her hair at all so sometimes it makes me want to puke. Most of the time when she moves me around her skin scratches me because she doesn't put her moisturizer on. My friend had almost died the other day cause her owner had fell over and broke her lenses. Which reminds me that when Sita was young she had bought me from the shop and she was really excited to have something that most kids didn't have and since then she has never taken me off. The worst thing being Sitas helper is that she never uses the spray that she got from the shop all she does is spit on my face and then smears it with her dirty cloth. To me it is the most disgusting thing and it seems like Sita doesn’t care about me anymore and has no care to take care of me. I had always been by her side when she was little, you might be wondering how she can still fit me when she's grown.
This is a draft if there is any mistakes please tell me in the comments below.

Hands on fire
Lighting your hands
Aim: To listen to the teachers instructions while using safe practise in the science lab
Hypothesis: The fire burns onto the bubbles and then disappear when the person separates their arm.
Equipment:
1.Bunsen Burner
2.Gas
3. Detergent
4.Water
Method:
1. Put some water into a container and squirt in some detergent.
2. Connect the gas hose to the taps and make gas bubbles in the water.
3. Rub cold water on your hands, wrist and put it on your elbows.
4. Scoop up bubbles in the container into the palm of your cupped hands.
5. Stand with your hands reaching out in front of you, with your palms and bubbles facing up.
6. Light your hands.
7. Do not try this at home.
Safety:
If you want to stop the fire you can open your palms and drop the fire to the floor.
Results:
The hands of the person burst into flames without burning their hands.
Discussion:
The gas in the bubbles burn.
Conclusion:
The safety glasses will be needed in this experiment. Especially when you are doing the experiment or watching it.
