Flight built

Flight - Build a plane

Brainstorm: What are the forces acting on an aircraft?
  1.   Drag
  2.   Lift
  3.  Gravity / weaight
  4.  Thrust

How can we overcome some of these forces?

Force
Their effect on a plane
How to overcome them?
Gravity / Weight
Pull it downBy making things lighter
Drag
Slow it downStream line
Lift
Make it go upIf its lighter it goes higher
Thrust
Make it go forwardGo backwards

Building a light aircraft

Aim: To build an aircraft made of material that is best suited for flight using the 4 forces.

Hypotheis: I think that by..

This video shows our plane flying.

Biosphere
Hydrosphere
Lithosphere
Atmosphere

  1. How much of the earth is made up by hydrosphere?70%
  2. How much of the earth is made up by lithosphere / ground? 30%
  3. What atmostsphere made up of ?78% nitrogen 21% oxygen
  4. What does the biosphere contain? A aspects of life

The biosphere also known as the ecosphere, is the worldwide sum of all ecosystems. It can also be termed the zone of life on Earth, a closed system, and largely self-regulating.

A hydrosphere is the total amount of water on a planet. The hydrosphere includes water that is on the surface of the planet, underground, and in the air. A planet's hydrosphere can be liquid, vapour, or ice. On Earth, liquid water exists on the surface in the form of oceans, lakes and rivers

A lithosphere is the rigid, outermost shell of a terrestrial-type planet, or natural satellite, that is defined by its rigid mechanical properties.

An atmosphere is a layer or a set of layers of gases surrounding a planet or other material body, that is held in place by the gravity of that body
