FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics.

  • In your groups of 3 you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behaviour.
  • In groups of 3, you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behaviour.
Image result for flight forces

Definition:  The movement or process something in the air.

4 forces of flight:

  1.  Gravity
  2.  Thrust
  3.  Drag
  4.   Lift

Paper Plane:

Material:

1. Paper
2. Ruler
3. Paper clip

Steps:

1. Grab a piece of paper
2. Fold it exactly in half
3. Fold the corners to the line
4. Then fold the triangle tip to the line 2x
5. Fold it in half again
6. Then grab the sides and fold them

Findings:

Plane Type
Distance
Behaviour
Normal
2.7mSpinning

Ailerons
3.4mGoing down

Paper clip

3mSpinning

Conclusion:
The one that went further was the Ailerons because it didn't spin and how it was folded. The Ailerons was adjusted to the right angle so it made it thrust further to make it work better.

The second place was the Paper clip because it had helped the plan go higher but also make it go down it also did go straight but sadly made it spin and fall it to the ground.

The one that didn't go so far was the basic one it didn't go far because of how it was made and was thrown to fast and too hard. It wasn't the best and furtherest on but it did fly and didn't immedianly go down. Water Rocket

Material:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Steps:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

Findings:

( Record the distance and the flight behaviour of your rocket.)

Fuel Amount
